Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has took strong objections to Maha Rashtra Nav Nirman Sena’s friendship feelers to BJP. Uddhav has said that the Shiv Sena – BJP alliance is long, and time tested. Any attempts by others to get closer to BJP and trials to disturb the friendship will not yield any results, he said.
MNS leader Raj Thackeray has recently said that he would back Narendra Modi for PM candidature. “We will contest the Lok Sabha elections. I will show my party’s strength during the elections. We will support Narendra Modi for the PM’s post. Modi should become the Prime Minister of the country,” Raj said at a function which took place after a meeting with the BJP Ex President Nitin Gadkari. Raj Thackeray has also announced candidates to few Lok Sabha constituencies. The areas chosen by MNS are those that belong to Shiv Sena. BJP contesting areas are not being targeted by MNS with a clear motive to attack Shiv Sena and get closer to BJP.
Uddhav warned MNS against such tactics. “There is durby race going on to support Modi. Those who had criticised Modi earlier are also declaring unilateral support to him without invitation. Shiv Sena is pride of Maharashtra politics and Marathi manus could live here with honor only because of Shiv Sena. There is no ‘mai ka lal’ who can stand in the way of Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is longest and has withered many storms. There have been many attempts to sabotage the alliance,” said Uddhav Thackeray.
BJP meanwhile has deployed Rajiv Pratap Rudy, party’s in charge in Maharashtra to placate the Shiva Sena chief.
Shiv Sena, MNS fight has been intensifying over the years and with general elections fast approaching, the situation might prove beneficial to other parties, observers say.
