India’s PV Sindhu could not continue her winning streak in women’s badminton and lost the Olympic gold at Rio. In a nerve-wracking final, Sindhu was beaten by her Spanish rival and world number one Carolina Marin by 19-21, 21-12, 21-15 in exactly one hour.
Sindhu fought valiantly till the end but could not withstand the pressure all through. Whereas her rival played the match with ease. Lack of experience was clearly evident and a crest-fallen Sindhu has collapsed on the court after the match.
Still, Sindhu created history by becoming the first ever Indian player to have won a silver in Badminton in Olympics.
Even in defeat, she won many hearts across the nation. Carrying forward the wishes of one hundred crore Indians who were glued to television sets and even offered prayers for her victory.
