Skill training for women

Skill_training_womenUnion Minister of Women and Child Development Menaka Sanjay Gandhi in New Delhi today said that the issue before the Consultative Committee of Parliament was “Skill Training for Women”. Various aspects related to skill development, employment generation and empowerment of women were discussed during the meeting. Addressing the members of the committee Maneka said that skill development played an important role in enhancing economic opportunities for women leading to their empowerment. She asked MPs to identify NGOs doing good work and government should assist them in skill development of women. “We will try our best to ensure India’s money goes to the best”, she added. She also said that the training should not only be restricted to sewing, stitching and embroidery but should also include making food items, rope making and knitting which can generate economic opportunities for women.
