Solar Plants to overcome Power crisis in Telangana

solarTelangana Government focusing on the renewable energy sources to overcome the power crisis by establishing solar power plants. As per the data Telangana consists of nearly 30,000  acres filled with uneven dunes and stones. Among these 10,000 acres are suitable for installing solar power plants.

Thin film solar module manufacturer ‘First Solar’ plans to build 45 megawatt solar power generation plant in Telangana. The plant can supply electricity to the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana State Limited (TSSPDCL) through the grid. It is said to be charged Rs 6.49 paise per kilowatt for a period of 20 years. The project will include the construction at two different sites in Mahabubnagar district.

Sujoy Ghosh, country head, for First Solar India said that the plant is expected to be in commercial operation by May of 2015. On completion, the projects are estimated to produce approximately 86,880 units of electricity each year. According to the authorities this solar power will be sufficient to meet the needs of  92,000 homes in Telangana
