Popular singer Sonu Nigam performed on board a jet Airways flight leading to suspension of five crew members. The singer used the flight announcement system to sing as the Air hostesses allowed him to do so following a request from a group of passengers of Jet flight from Jodhpur to Mumbai on January 4. Sonu rendered mellifluously two of his super-hit songs – ‘Panchhi nadiya’ from the film ‘Refugee’ and ‘Do pal ruka’ from Yash Raj Films’ ‘Veer Zaara’. Sonu even got some of the passengers sing along with him and commented- “Arrey wah, aap bhi gaatein hain. My God, saare singer hain (Wow, you all can sing too. Everyone’s a singer here).”
Some of the passengers recorded the small concert and posted on the social media which went viral. This has alerted the authorities who found that there has been breach of security norms. Since flight announcement system shall not be used for any other purposes, the cabin crew who allowed Sonu faced the wrath of the system. All five members have been divested of duty, suspended and summoned for enquiry, a spokesman of Jet Airways said.
