Stand Up India scheme launched, Modi books e-rickshaw through Ola app

Untitled-1Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the Stand Up India Campaign , aiming at encouraging entrepreneurship among women and dalits in the country.

A loan ranging from Rs 10 lakh to 1 crore will be provided to the interested women and businessmen from the SCs and STs under the scheme.

Distribution of 5100 Ola e-rickshaws from the BMC (Bharatiya Micro Credit) under Prime Minister Mudra Yojana scheme. Mr Modi booked the first e-rickshaw through Ola app.

People from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will perform as well as others if they are given the opportunity, Prime Minister said. We got the opportunity but they were denied it. If we can perform on getting an opportunity, they can also perform,” Modi said, advocating equal opportunities for people belonging to Scheduled Castes.

Referring to Dalits, the prime minister said “they should not depend on someones’ mercy”.

“Dalit youth should aspire to become entrepreneurs and businessmen. They can easily avail loans from the branches Mudra Bank now,” he said, counting his government’s schemes for the welfare of STs and SCs.

At a funcion organized at Noida on the outskirts of Delhi, Prime Minister has focussed his speech on dalit welfare only. He was flanked by 17 dalit MPs from his party. The move is seen as a tactical prelude to woo the dalit vote bank ahead of UP Assembly polls next year.

Also, paying tributes to former deputy prime minister and defence minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, Modi said the government has chosen the great leader’s birthday to launch the scheme.
