Stone laid for Angrau

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh laid the foundation stone of Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University
in Guntur, AP today and said “there are still large productivity gaps in the potential and the realized farm output and with development and
infusion of new technologies farm production will go up. In AP ICAR has established Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, Peda Vegi, in
West Godavari district and Central Tobacco Research Institute, Rajahmundry. ICAR has also set up CIFE Centre at Kakinada, CIFA Centre
in Vijayawada, Centres of CIFT and CMFRI in Visakhapatnam and 12 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. ANGRAU has released 394 improved varieties of
field and horticultural crops. About 1/4th of rice area is occupied by ANGRAU rice varieties. Rice varieties Swarna, MTU-1010, Mtu-1001 and
BPT-5204 are popular in 14 other States and in four other countries. CM Chandrababu Naidu, Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok
Gajapathi Rajum Nirmala Sitharaman, Y.S. Chowdary, MLA of Tadikonda T.Sravana Kumar were also present.
