Supreme Court’s Responses from NGOs

Supreme-CourtSupreme court sought response from the two states i.e. Telangana and Tamil Nadu for not providing details regarding registered NGOs in two states and they have the doubt that they filed balance sheets before the authorities. According to the bench headed by chief justice H L Dattu issued notices. Out of 22, 39,971 NGOs in 20 states, approximately 23,428 filed the sheets. Additional solicitor general P S Patwalia said that NGOs will not be eligible for any grant unless they comply and fill statement of income expenditure of last three years. However, the bench, also comprising justices A K Sikri and R Kagrawal, said” all the statements made here has to be in black and white”. Apex court had expanded the scope of PIL, advocate M L Sharma against an NGO. Hind Swaraj trust, run by anti- corruption by Anna Hazare. And different states of bench also send the reminders. It is stated that out of 97,437 NGOs in Assam other union territories were not filled the sheets. The affidavit said that exception was the state of Jammu and Kashmir and Mizoram where all the 147 and 34 registered NGOs respectively filed their balance sheets.
