Earlier, Rajnath Singh himself denied all allegations saying he had unsuccessfully lobbied to make his son, Pankaj, candidate from Noida for the UP Assembly.
The Home Minister said, “I had thought that these rumours would end in a few days but they haven’t. I want to assure the people of India that the day accusations against me or anyone in my family are proved prima facie, I’ll quit politics and sit at home”.
He said that both Modi and Amit Shah expressed their surprise over the media reports.
BJP made Vimla Batham, a 62-year-old entrepreneur, candidate for the by-poll to be held on September 13.
