The millers from Andhra Pradesh are offering remunerative prices to the paddy grown in Telangana which has made the farmers of the state to sell their crop to the rice-millers from AP. Huge number of transportation vehicles Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari districts have been located across the various districts of Telangana, especially Nizamabad to purchase paddy from Telangana farmers.
It is reported that millers from AP have already purchase of about 1 Lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers in Nizamabad, out of the total estimate of 6 Lakh metric tonnes.
The state government of Telangana has fixed a price of Rs. 1,360 per quintal for common variety and Rs. 1,400 quintal for Grade ‘A’ paddy while the millers from Andhra Pradesh are offering Rs. 1,600 to Rs. 1,650.
Meanwhile, the state government has no objection on farmers picking up AP to sell paddy. The ministry of agriculture has also directed to not to seize the vehicles transporting agricultural products from T-state to AP.
