T-state Buys Power at Rs. 8.50/unit

kcr-newThe government of Telangana had to rush to buy power at a cost of Rs. 8.50/unit from private electricity producers as the newly formed state is facing a sever power shortage this season.

The normal price is Rs. 3.50 per unit which is bought regularly from the national and southern grids.

The state government on Sunday bought 14 million units at Rs. 8.50 per unit. The government also bought the electricity on Monday but the amount was unknown. Details are expected on Wednesday.

A spokesman from the CM’s office said, “To overcome the power shortfall, the government has taken short-term and longterm measures. To meet the immediate power shortfall, the government purchased 14 million units of power from private parties on Sunday and will continue to purchase till the power situation eases”.

KCR is blaming the CM of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the worst power situation in the state. The Congress, TDP and TRS leaders held each other responsible for the crisis.
