T-state Receives plea to Announce ‘Mahavir jayanti’ Holiday

Mahavir-jayantiThe Telangana government received an appeal from the Jain community in the city to declare the Mahavir Jayanti as a public holiday. The Mahavir Jayanti occurs in the month of either March or April in the Gregorian calendar. In 2015, the sacred day of Jain community would occur on April 2.

The Jain community also demanded 2 acre land within twin cities to erect a prayer hall and spiritual centre. The community also sought for 50 acre land in Ranga Reddy for the lower income groups.

The Jain community appealed to reserve seats in various schools for the community.
