The government of Telangana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the public sector company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for construction of a new thermal power plant in the next 3 years in the state. This pact between T-state and BHEL has pinned hopes for the people of Telangana that they may not have to face the regular power-cuts soon. The project will have the capacity to produce 6,000 MW of power.
The official release by the state government said that the MoU was signed in the presence of CM K Chandrasekhara Rao.
BHEL, a central public sector undertaking is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India
BHEL has already executed thermal power projects in Telangana in Bhupalapally, Singareni Colleries and Kothagudem.
BHEL has to execute the project as the nominated engineering procurement and construction (EPC) within three years.
