Tama’s era ends in Japan

tamaWorld famous railway station master of Japan – Tama – a cat died on June 22, due to ill-health. Amazing. Why did she shoot into limelight? No wonder if foreign tourists turned to her. Prior to 2007 Kishi was a small railway station. Now it is said to be one of the world famous tourist spots.

In 2004 Kishi railway station was running in losses. The then station manager Toshiko Koyama adopted Tama, who used to go round the station. Passengers loved her and hugged her. Later, she was made station master in 2007 and orders to this effect were passed by the Japan’s Electrical Railway authorities. A special office was set up for her functioning. Thereafter the station returned into profits under her care as she in her uniform spent time among the passengers and tourists. Now she left her friends, travelers and tourists in an ocean of sorrow. In recognition of her services she was given a State level funeral today.
