The state govt will decide whether the CID investigation advanced or not. As Number of persons involved in scam thousands, the Govt will take forward step said CID investigators.
When the investigation was done in just first phase, more than 2,000 incriminated were involved in the scam from beneficiaries, village sarpanches to mandal and taluka-level govt officials everyone was involved.
“If the CID goes according to rules, then it will face difficulty in naming thousands of accused in the scam. It will also not be easy to file charge sheets, with thousands of accused and their details and nature of offence. And if at all the probe agency continues its work, then the government may also face the heat, as many village-level as well as state government officials are involved,” said a senior official.
Not even one case was genuine when officials conducted the probe. The officials produced houses as “constructed” but they not even existed and some were only repaired but they claimed as newly constructed.
DSP who en route the team said people who are not form the weaker section and who got benefited, while many poor families didn’t get even a single cement bag.
Police was shocked to see empty plots, which were claimed as “constructed” in Basheerabad of Tandur mandal in RR dist.
Initially the diligence and enforcement wing conducted the probe to check if 22.4 lakh houses as reported that have been constructed from 2004 to 2014 were genuinely constructed. When internal inquiry conducted by previous govt 283 were dismissed out of 490.
The Telangana CID police had registered as many as nine cases in connection with the alleged Indiramma housing scam.
