Telangana Government to Launch Pension Scheme From November 8


From November 8 the Telangana government will be launching pension scheme for the old-aged, handicapped and widows. First month pension would be paid in cash with each village as a unit.

O n Tuesday K Taraka Rama Rao the Panchayat Raj Minister conducted a video conference at Secretariat with Collectors of 10 districts.

Mr. Rao told them to distribute pension in the form of cash only for first month, and after that continue the old method of transferring amounts directly into their bank accounts.

Old-aged and widowers would be given Rs 1,000, while handicapped persons would get Rs 1,500 every month. Cash distribution decision was taken so that beneficiaries could feel for themselves the enhanced pension amounts, a promise made by TRS in its election manifesto.

In 10 districts 39.9 lakh applications was received for pension scheme. Out of which 19.3 lakh applications (close to 50 per cent) have been verified so far. While collectors were told to complete these formalities in a week.
