Congress has been on an overdrive in building positive opinion over its decision to create Telangana. Jairam Ramesh, who has played an instrumental role in designing the bill and during its passing through the Parliament, has been given the main responsibility in this important political exercise for Congress.
Jairam had explained the many angles of the Bill the next day it passed parliament. Now, continuing the effort, he toured Tirupati yesterday and explained several beneficial points of the bill to the Seemandhra public. To day, in Hyderabad, Jairam Ramesh held a media con. and continued with his role of building amicability.
He said that Telangana creation was a commitment Congress gave in 2004. It had tried to build a consensus for ten long years, he reminded. The demand has had a sixty year history, honoring it was a must, he said. The Hyderabad is entirely an integral part of Telangana, all the income generated will belong to the state, but for ten years, it will remain a common capital, which cannot be disputed, he declared. Giving powers to Governor using Article 3 was absolutely constitutional, even Supreme Court supported this in atleast four cases, he reiterated.
Jairam questioned the flipflopping of BJP in the Parliament. The party took one stance in Lok Sabha, another in Rajya Sabha, he pointed out. Seemandhra region has to take every benefit from the proposed tax exemptions he suggested.
