Telangana Says NO to Privatization of Motor Vehicle Act

The Privatization wave is on. We frequently hear authorities talking about privatizing different department. There have been mixed out come in this regards. In some cases the move has benefitted but the consumer as well as the authorities. In some case it the outcome was not very efficient. There have been instances of misuse and letting loose some factors.

This time the Privatization of the Execution of the Motor Vehicle Act in Telangana was strongly opposed by the TRS Government.

The Motor Vehicle Act covers the process of issuing Driving License, Vehicle Fitness Certificate, and the Registration of the Vehicle. Telangana Transport Minister Mahender Reddy made the TRS Governments intentions very clear, that this sector will not be Privatized. The mentions instead we should work towards strengthening the state mechanism to better control this process. TS is a small and a new state. Privatization of this sector may encourage misuse of the authorities.
