Telangana Seeks 15-20% Share in Aerospace and Defence

Telangana-AerospaceWith an initiation to acquire 15-20 per cent market share in aerospace and defence sector in next five years, the Telangana government is all set to launch two more aerospace parks.

An extension of the existing aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Adiblatla has been proposed on over 1,000 acres near Ibrahimpatnam. The Adibatla park currenty caters four units of Tata in joint venture with global majors like Sikorsky, Lockheed Martin and RUAG Aviation.

Another aerospace park is being planned on the northern side of the city, probably on the borders o Warangal and Hyderabad.

“Indian Air Force’s (IAF) move to replace its Avro fleet offers a huge opportunity for Hyderabad to emerge as aerospace and defence hub”, says Telangana’s Special Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, K. Pradeep Chandra.

“Telangana is aiming to get 15 to 20 percent share of this market,” said Commissioner, Industries, Jayesh Ranjan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
