The Opposition in Telangana has cautioned that TRS government is heading towards a debt-ridden state. “The mounting debts indicate the same as the KCR government is relying heavily on borrowings for implementation of some of its major schemes” BJP and TDP said in Assembly on Friday.
“We were bequeathed with a debt of Rs 83,000 crore at the time of formation of the state. Another Rs 50,000 crore has been added later. Now, the 2BHK scheme and Mission Bhagiratha will double our debt manifold. Where are we heading for? BJP floor leader K Laxman asked during debate on state budget for 2016 17.
TDP floor leader A Revanth Reddy felt that farmers’ loan waiver scheme can be fulfilled at one go if the funds meant for SDF are allocated for the remaining instalments of loan waiver. Out of the four instalments, two instalments have been completed so far.
“Don’t boast that Telangana is a rich state. Gone are the days. We are now at the mercy of HUDCO and the Centre for financing our schemes” he added.
