The winter season this year is turning out to be warmer as the temperature raised almost three degree Celsius compared to 2012 and 2013. In the first two weeks of November in 2012, the maximum temperature recorded was 30 degree Celsius while in 2013 it was 29 degree Celsius. In year 2014, the maximum recorded temperature is over 32 degree Celsius. The minimum recorded temperatures however remained constant this year too.
M. Narsimha Rao, Assistant Meteorologist, Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad said, “The sudden chill experienced from the end of October is a result of cold northerly winds that blow down south bringing down the temperature. However, the pattern of temperature and setting on winter has been a normal phenomenon and is pretty constant. Due to the low pressures and the presence of different systems, the temperatures will not dip drastically”.
“They will only dip once there is no effect of systems. The lowest maximum temperature of peak winter season is usually calculated from the second week of Dec. to the first week of January”, he added.
