The warning said the terrorists armed with guns, ammunition and a suicide belt could target Delhi, Goa and Mumbai – the city where the couple will begin their tour.
According to reports in India, the three terrorists are suspected to have entered the country via the Punjab region which borders Pakistan.
The alert issued by Punjab police stated: ‘Their target could be in Delhi, Goa and Mumbai,’ India Today reported.
‘You are directed to take all the necessary steps in this regard and specially focus on strict checking of vehicles, security of all vital installation[s] including police buildings and defence establishments, religious places, crowded places such as market areas, malls, railway stations, railway tracks, and educational institutions.
According to reports, the three Pakistani terrorists are travelling in a Maruti Swift Dzire car with the license plate JK-01 AB-2654, and a local from the Punjab region is thought to be with them.
The Royal couple’s visit to Bhutan and India this week will see them stay in the Mumbai hotel which was targeted in the city’s 2008 terror attacks in which 164 people were killed.
