On Saturday in Hyderabad, Telangana government constituted a High Powered Committee and Project Management Unit (PMU) for establishing a well-connected CCTV surveillance network in Hyderabad covering Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates.
HPC will be formed with 10-members by the State Chief Secretary in which Principal Secretaries of Home, Municipal Administration and ITD, Secretary Finance, DGP, GHMC Commissioner, HMRL MD and Cyberabad Commissioner will be the other members, while Hyderabad Police Commissioner will be committee’s Member Convener.
This Committee will review and approve the appointment of all the consultants required and the technical proposal of the Project Consultant, approve the lowest evaluated bidder and review the progress at periodic intervals. They will also issue necessary policy directions and guidance for successful implementation of CCTV Surveillance Project.
To review the progress panel will meet once in every 2 months. Likewise, the 8-member PMU will be chaired by Hyderabad Police Commissioner, while Cyberabad Commissioner will primarily take care of technical aspects of the project and also recommend for appointment of Technical Consultant-cum-Transaction Advisor.
This project will have a state of the art monitoring at Central Command Control Centre with latest video analytics. Thus, this city-wide video surveillance system will also help achieving the smart city objectives apart from safe city.
