It is all set for AIADMK Leader M. Thambidurai to take over as Deputy Speaker of Lok Shaba, unanimously by extending support of the government and opposition party. AIADMK is the third largest party in Lok Shaba with 37 members.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu appealed Congress Party to make Thambidurai’s election unanimous. Mallikarjun Kharge from the Congress party proposed his name and Jyotiraditya Scindia seconded it.
BJP is nominating Thambidurai as Deputy Speaker to gain support from AIADMK in Rajya Shaba, where they have 10 members in Rajya Shaba. BJP is in minority with 46 members in Rajya Shaba.
Thambidurai is a key person in AIADMK. He is a leader of AIADMK in Lok Shaba. He was also Deputy Speaker of Lok Shaba from 1985 to 1989 and served as Union Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
