The Bar of Goodness

The-Bar-of-GoodnessDark Chocolate is found to Prevent Diabetes
Dark chocolate, the ultimate comfort food that instantly enhances the mood, is for many years now, known to be good for health. Time and again researchers have come up with health benefits of a dark chocolate even as they continue to do their research. While it is always known to be good for heart, thanks to various studies; recently, researchers have found that a dark chocolate bar daily can reduce the risk of developing diabetes. As a part of a Luxembourg study of Observation of Cardiovascular risk, researchers analysed a data of 1,153 people aged 18 – 69 years, and the results were published in British Journal of Nutrition, according to Science Daily.
The study found that the insulin resistance has reduced and the liver enzymes have improved in all those who ate 100g of chocolate every day. And this in turn proves yet again that chocolate is good for heart as Insulin sensitivity, a well established risk factor to cardiovascular disease is prevented if you eat dark chocolate.
However, what we are talking about here is dark chocolate that has atleast 70% of natural cocoa, and not the regular chocolate bars that are processed and energy-dense. Further, indiscriminate eating of chocolate without physical activity, diet restrictions and lifestyle factors, can lead to unnecessary weight gain.
Here’s a list of health benefits of dark chocolate that researchers have unearthed over the years:
It is good for heart and aids circulation by restoring the flexibility to arteries. Dark chocolate is known to have reduced heart strokes.
Dark chocolate contains Iron, and other minerals like potassium and zinc.
It reduces bad cholesterol
Dark chocolate reduces stress and is also good for expecting mothers to reduce stress levels.
Dark chocolate is known to prevent memory loss and keep brain healthy.
Above all, from being forced to avoid chocolate, we can now gorge on our favourite bar – but ensure it is the right chocolate, and is not had in excess.
