‘The Lunchbox’ lost the Award at BAFTA

The-LunchboxRitesh Batra’s ‘The Lunchbox’ an epistolary romance film unfortunately failed to win the award for the non-English best film at the BAFTA. The award was taken by the Polish-Danish film ‘Ida’. Actress Nimrat Kaur who played the lead female role in ‘The Lunchbox’ looked gorgeous as she wore a Hobeika dress at the award function.

Along with Nimrat, others playing important role in the film were Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. ‘The Lunchbox’ was much appreciated internationally and it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. In the film Nimrat portrayed the role of a housewife who is ignored by her husband.

‘Ida’ is also nominated for the Oscars for best foreign film category. It is a black and white film about a Polish nun (Agata Trzebuchowska). She founds that she is Jewish and her parents were murdered by the same people who give them sanctuary.

Other films nominated for the BAFTA award for Film not in the English’ category were Russian drama ‘Leviathan’, Brazilian-British adventure drama ‘Trash’ and Belgian drama ‘Two Days, One Night’.

The award function was hosted by Stephen Fry and it was organized at the Royal Opera House.
