The lives of two children in Ranchi have been plagued by an extreme genetic disorder called Progeria. As a result of the disease, 18 months old Keshav kumar and his seven-year-old sister Anjali Kumari look older than their ages . They have been suffering from a rare genetic disorder, giving them a rare skin condition which makes them look much older. The doctors who have diagnosed them have said that they suffer from a rare form of progeria and also a disease called Cutis Laxa, which in India is incurable and the parents were asked to take the children to U.S. The couple, who struggles to meet ends, said they could not afford a travel to U.S. and avail the costly treatment. Experts said that the disorder was either hereditary or a result of excess fluoride in water. Usually, people with such disorders do not have a longer life.
Due to their looks, they are teased quite often. Anjali gets called in school by many names, like Daadi amma (grandmother), budhiya (old lady), bandariya (monkey), or hanuman (a Hindu monkey lord) , reports mail online.
At an age of seven, Anjali find it difficult to face all these humiliation. She hopes one day she and brother will be able to look normal.
