Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was on Tuesday awarded the prestigious Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour by President Pranab Mukherjee at an event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
The 33-year-old former Miss World, who specially flew down to India from her “Baywatch” shoot in Los Angeles to receive the honour, said Padma Shri is the best award.
Priyanka, a former Miss World, has been a part of Hindi cinema for almost a decade and has made India proud globally with her stint in the American TV series, Quantico. She is also shooting for debut Hollwood film, Baywatch, alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. She also took to Twitter to share her thoughts later.
“This is the best award I have ever received. Thank you so much. I am grateful,” she told . The “Jai Gangaajal” star looked elegant in a lemon yellow saree as she received the honour.
