Thousands of dead fish surface at Bengaluru lake

Ulsoor-lakef-Bengaluru-cityIn a shocking development, thousands of dead fish have been washed to the shore in the Ulsoor lake in the heart of Bengaluru city. According to experts, the fish have died due to decreased oxygen levels in the lake. Continuous inflow of untreated sewage has choked the lake, virtually taking away the life from it, they said. “It is the responsibility of the BWSSB (Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewarage Board), which handles Bengaluru’s sewage and the BBMP, which owns the lake, to set up a sewage treatment plant in the area and ensure that it is treated,” pollution control board officials said.
