Time limit for Food Security implementation extended by Center

The Central Government has extended the time limit for states by three months to implement the Food Security Bill passed by the previous UPA government. The Act was passed in 2013, and all the States were given time of one year to implement the scheme. giving subsidized wheat and rice that would have covered 2/3rds of India’s population. The deadline expires this July. Only five States have implemented the Act so far, six others are ready with provisions. The government now has given three months extension to all other States to fall in line, as declared by Central Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today.
