Titanic deck chair sold for 1 lakh pounds

MAHOGANY DECK CHAIR RECOVERED FROM TITANIC IS SEEN IN THE MARITIME MUSEUM OF THE ATLANTIC IN HALIFAXThe deck chair which was recovered from the great Titanic ship sank over a 100 years ago now fetched around one lakh pounds ( excluding taxes ) at an auction. In indian currency it amounts to Rs 95 lakhs. Interestingly the chair was sold by Henny Al Dridge and sons to the authorities of Titanic ship for 70000 pounds and as ordained the same company owned the chair at the recent auction.

It is amazing to find that the aforesaid char made of fine quality teakwood was said to be intact attracting the bidders.


The craze for Titanic articles stills remains intact obviously. Incredible but over 1500 met a watery grave when the ship sank after colliding with a massive iceberg. A film on Titanic tragedy made it more interesting than before.

It was carrying people from Southampton to New York on April 14, 1912. The tragic event seems to be still fresh in the minds of many as the craze for its valuables testified.

Neck Ke Tennet team is said to have recovered the valuable articles along with the dead bodies.
