TN cabinet meets with Jaya’s photo and empty chair

tamil-nadu-cabinetTamil Nadu cabinet met today for the first time in the absence of Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, who is battling with multiple problems in Apollo Hospitals.

Chaired by stand-in and finance minister O Pannerselvam, who put up a photo of Amma (read Jayalalitha) before him, the cabinet has discussed the issue of Cauvery water crisis.

Mr Panneerselvam did not take the chief minister’s chair, which was vacant through the meeting.

Even last time Mr Panneerselvam, 65, stood in for Ms Jayalalithaa, while she was in prison in a corruption case, he had demonstrated his loyalty by refusing to use Ms Jayalalithaa’s office or the chief minister’s seat in the state assembly for eight months.

Mr Panneerselvam is holding the cabinet meetings as per the advice of the Chief Minister herself and officially communicated by in-charge Governor C Vidyasagar Rao.
