Commerce & Industry Minister Nirmala Sitaram dismissed the Tobacco Board chairman K Gopal due to his negligence towards the farmers’ issues. Commerce ministry joint secretary Santosh Sarangi was appointed to officiate as in-charge chairman Tobacco Board. The minister reviewed that out of 172 million kg of tobacco in Andhra Pradesh till September 14, 142.6 million kg was lifted by the trade. She directed Tobacco Board to take immediate steps to facilitate disposal of balance quantity of 30 million kg by the end of September.
