Traffic jams are not uncommon and unheard of in metropolitan cities. Currently road jamming in the city has gone up by the day with the increase in vehicles of all hues. Traffic islands too are more and at each junction traffic comes to a standstill. Road users have no alternative except wait.
Travel from one end to another in Greater Hyderabad is not as easy as before. RTC fleet, autos, cabs, Setwin buses, school and college buses, four and two-wheelers’ ( over 25 laks ) emission is another distressing feature. On the other it is hazardous. People learnt to bear the pain silently. By and large, peak hour journey from one end to another end in the city is a back-breaking affair.
The less said the better about the congestion on roads or the troubles faced by the commuters on a rainy day. Hundreds of vehicles will be stranded on the main roads.water-logging The plight of the road users must be seen to be believed when rain lashes the city.
All hopes are centred on the Metro Rail but the Union Minister Bandaru Dattathreya has already announced that its inauguration would be postponed for obvious reasons. All concerned are fed up with the flow of traffic as a flood as the population increases by the day.
Despite best of measures devised by the officers concerned, movement of traffic has been restricted to a snail’s pace in crucial hours. Of course, there is a silver streak. The historic city has turned out to be the destination for all shades of people. Why? Here people are friendly and accommodative, said one non-Telugu man.
