TRAI Decision Disappoints: Facebook

mark-ZukerbergThe decision of Trai in net neutrality disappointed the CEO of Facebook Mark Zukerberg. But he maintained that his fight to providing free basics in internet would continue. He said that he would strive to achieve his goal not only in India but in other countries too, he said in a post on facebook. TRAI which supported net neutrality, banned charging different rates from customers for different usage of the data. The service providers wanted to charge one rate for youtube and another for twitter or booking train/bus/air tickets etc and called it zero rating. But, thanks to TRAI, such service providers would be fined a minimum of Rs. 50,000 per day and a maximum of Rs. 50 lakhs. Hence facebook platform on free basics received a blow.
