TRS party has declared that it has decided against any mergers with Congress party. TRS leader KCR announced the party decision last night after a marathon meeting of the party functionaries of state, Parliamentary and politburo members.
KCR has said that the merger announcement was given by him last September with a clear condition to complete the process of Telangana creation within a month and he asked for a state without any shackles. As Congress did not fulfill his request, his offer of merger stands void. He went on to explain that the Congress chief Sonia has never discussed merger with him. More over, Congress has been ill treating TRS from the beginning. Congress did not keep up even an appearance of friendly welcome indicating its keenness of partnership with the party.
Even one request of TRS with regard to T creation was accepted, he alleged. TRS had no objections with the special status given to Seemandhra, but Telangana too deserved such status, in fact, even Planning Commission has said that except Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, other eight districts of Telangana are backward. This is a clear justification for the demand of Special status to the region, he said. Telangana asked for National project status to Pranahita Chevella, which was denied without an explanation. The powers to Governor were objected upon, the pensions sharing of employees was another issue, snatching away AP BHavan which was hereditary property of Telangana was another issue… KCR went on with the list.
The recent provocation by accepting two leaders debarred from TRS was not friendly, KCR pointed out. Jairam Ramesh’s recent comments calling TRS a party like Prajarajyam and saying it would be an upper caste governance with TRS in the future state was uncalled for, he felt. The last straw was the ordinance issued hours after the President’s Gazette publication on Polavaram submerging mandals, KCR explained.
It took decades of struggle for the region to get back it’s former identity. Without a strong independent political identity, the region might be forced into a similar situation within no time, he warned. TRS was a movement party, but now it will be a complete political party from now on, KCR declared.
KCR has announced a committee with K KeshavaRao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, B Vinod Kumar, Eetela Rajender and Kadiam Srihari to discuss if and any alliance proposals with the party.
