Registering an emphatic victory, the ruling party TRS has wrested the Khammam municipal corporation today. Out of total 50 divisions- TRS has got 34 while the Congress has bagged 10. Others have won in six divisions. Considering its poor run in Hyderabad and across the state, this could be Congress’s moderate performance, according to analysts. Two factors have strongly worked in favour of the ruling party: one is the double bed room scheme and second one- calculated strategy in selection of candidates. Tummala Nageswara Rao has played a key role in weaning away a sizeable chunk of TDP cadre and also put up ‘winning horses’ in the fray.
TDP drew a blank in the polls, perhaps for the first time since its inception. YSRC, CPI and CPI(M) have won two divisions each. The leftist bastion has finally fallen prey to TRS in the changed political scenario
