The Minister of Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy warned the official of the government and the bank for any irregularities in the crop loan scheme. Through a video conference he said the waiver should be provided to eligible farmers only and suggested that priority in crop loan waiver should be given to small and marginal farmers, with extreme care.
It was observed that some bank employees took crop loans without being a farmer and is now trying to avail the waiver.
There were some shocking figures which came out recently. In Gandipet village, it was observed that Rs crore bogus crop loans were issued. In Nizamabad district Rs 437.89 crore released, and another Rs 790 crore, crop loan were renewed. The remaining 30 crop loan renewals will be completed by October end. This is big revenue at stake, and the errant staff of the banks and cooperative societies has been warned on attempting to swindle the funds. These cases have already occurred, old photo copies of the crop loan applications were used to get the loan sanctioned, using bogus bank accounts.
