Telangana schools may reopen on June 1, if that is the indication given by the school education department in view of the Telangana formation day falling on June 2, and the celebrations that follow in a grand manner.
Besides, top officers were also planning to reduce the school summer holidays from 45 days to 30 days. These and other topics were discussed at a meeting organized with the teachers’ unions on one side and the top officials on the other recently.
They also discussed the burden of syllabus which they thought it was beyond the capacity of the children. Further, they have plans to fix the school timings from 9.30 am to 4.45 pm. Education department calendar is also likely to come out shortly.
The department has decided to invite suggestions on the subjects discussed. However, teachers’ unions were unhappy over the discussions held as they termed the decisions were arbitrary and one-sided.
Teachers’ unions also expressed their ire over the manner in which the higher-ups ignored to discuss the vacancies of English medium teachers training.
Meanwhile, the authorities were getting ready to implement their plans, according to sources.
