TS to have one district per 3 lakh families: KCR

kcrUnveiling a vision of total decentralization, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao stated that steps are being taken to ensure that a district will have a population of three lakh families. Reviewing a series of meetings with leaders of eight districts, he said_ “ Each district collector shall have the total data of three lakh families of the district- the income sources and social status. An action plan will be devised for the upliftment of each family. Even after sixty years of Independence, complete eradication of poverty is not being achieved. We need to fight poverty. This is possible only through total decentralization. That’s why this plan. By 2022, we will have 5 lakh crore budget. We can get sufficient funds after successful completion of projects like Kaleswaram, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Power projects etc. We can fight poverty with these resources and make a mark” he explained to the leaders in the meetings.

When mandals were formed whenUnited state’s days, there was much political interference. As a result, the desired decentralization and other issues could not be achieved. Now such mistake shall not take place in the name of this reorganization of districts and mandals, the Chief Minister felt.

Mr Rao has reportedly consented the formation of two more districts – Siricilla and Janagama carving out from Karimnagar and Warangal distircts. The creation of Gadwal district from Mahbubnagar may be decided once the High Powered panel headed by K Keshava Rao submitted his report. “I don’t wish to leave the people of Siricilla, Janagama and Gadwal in despair on Vijayadasami day” Mr Rao has remarked.

Yet another demand has cropped up on Monday night with leaders from Adilabad district have submitted a plan to create one more district in Adilabad with headquarters at Asifabad. The local MLA and other leaders met Mr Rao at Camp Office. This will be studied by Kesavarao Committee, Mr Rao said.

Telangana is all set to become a 31-distict state from October 11.
