Soon after the state was bifurcated, several departments and institutions undergone bifurcation but the major Road Transport Corporation remained the same. But, the time seems come for that too as the authorities have been working on the line to bifurcate the Corporation into APSRTC and TSRTC.
Telangana would have to bear a burden of Rs. 2,960 Crore under 58-42 ratio as the existing APSRTC have liabilities of Rs. 4,500 Crore.
A team of officials would leave for New Delhi to discuss with the Union Government on December 14 on division of assets and liabilities of RTC.
It has been reported that the exercise to bifurcate the Corporation has been almost completed. On the eve of New Year, the new TSRTC would be launched.
63,481 employees, 94 depots and 9,310 buses have been deployed to Telangana with three zones, 11 regions and 352 bus stations. The TSRTC would serve on 3,640 routes.
