TV anchor got abusive calls for a debate on Mahishasur Jayanti

sindhusooryakumarPopular Malayalam newscaster  Sindhu Suryakumar received over 2000 abusive and threating calls for organizing a debate whether celebration of Mahishasur Jayanti could be considered an act of treason. She hosted the show on February 25, when JNU row was at its peak.  Various pro-Hindu groups made these calls, said Sindhu, who is the Chief coordinating editor of Asianet News TV.  They condemned her accusing her of saying something blasphemous against Goddess Durga. Five persons were arrested on a complaint lodged by journalist G Sparjan Kumar and all those arrested were having membership in RSS, VHP and Srirama Sena.

“I have been getting a call every minute. The main allegation is that I abused Durga, calling her a sex worker. Most of the abusers called me a prostitute and abused me” Sindhu said.
