Uber Cabs Banned in T-state After Delhi Rape Case


The state authorities of Telangana has come with an action after a woman in Delhi was raped by a driver in the Uber cab services. The state banned the Uber cab services in its operational area Hyderabad. The official statement released by the state says, “As per the advisory given by the Government of India, The transport department has banned all activities related to providing of any transport service bywww.uber.com with immediate effect.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the Road Transport Authority had said that the Uber cabs did not hold required licenses to operate taxi services in the state. In a statement to media, Joint Transport Commissioner of Hyderabad said, “Uber has not obtained permission from the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to operate or facilitate taxi or cab service in the city. So, if such transport services are being provided or facilitated by Uber in city, they are illegal.”
