Ulfa leader sent back

Bangladesh handed over to CBI the founder of Ulfa 27 years ago, a
militant separatist group Anup Chetai along with two aides under tight
security on Wednesday. He was involved in various murder and kidnap
cases. He was jailed in Bangladesh for the last 18 years after being
charged with staying in the country illegally and unlawful possession
of foreign currencies. He had fought to extradite and in the absence
of an extradition treaty he was not deported to India. The treaty was
signed in 2013. After return of mafia don Rajan, the handing over Anup
was said to be crucial, say experts.
