UP’s SP government working on image building

In the background of rising rape incidents and rash comments of leadership on issues of concern, the image of UP has fast descended into that of a land of chaos. There have been innumerable calls to put the State under President’s rule, including breaking up the state into smaller units to enable better administration. The SP government now is seriously considering employing outside, private firms to conduct an image boosting campaign. While the proposal is already approved by CM Akhilesh Yadav’s office, it is waiting for final nod from the Cabinet.

“The move is still at a conceptual stage and will be taken up for cabinet approval. However, outsourcing the marketing of these schemes to a private enterprise is being considered,” said Principal Secretary Navneet Sehgal.

Akhilesh had earlier used filmmakers and Mumbai based agencies to handle Samajwadi Party ad campaigns. The Modi lead Gujarat government has very effectively used the services of APCO ad agency for several years to boost its image. Though the SP government may not pour similar amounts for the purpose, the plan is definitely afoot.

But will the plan cover the gagging of CM and his father too?
