UPSC ordered to Explain its Role in DGP Appointments within Three Weeks

dgpThe Central Administrative Tribunal has allotted three weeks to the Union Public Service Commission to file an affidavit on the appointments of DGPs to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The two senior cops of the Telugu states, S.A. Huda and T.P. Das had lodged a complaint against the appointment of J.V. Ramudu as regular DGP to AP and Anurag Sharma as in-charge DGP to Telangana. The Tribunal’s two-member panel comprising B. Venkateswara Rao (judicial) and Ranja-na Chowdary (administration) ordered the UPSC explain its role while hearing the petition by the senior cops.

Earlier, the Tribunal was informed by the Central Government that none of the two states can appoint a permanent DGP at this stage as the states are being allotted with officials on temporary basis.

Though Telangana is moving ahead with the temporary DGP, Andhra Pradesh appointed a permanent DGP.
