US Increases Visa Fees

US  visa fee V6The US raised visa fees for certain categories of H1B and  L1 visas. The IT companies of India have to bear the burden of it. The US  Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) announced that those who  applied for certain categories of H1B visas after December 18, 2015, have to pay Rs.2.67 lakhs additionally. Similarly the applicants of L1A and L1B have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 3.01 lakhs. The increase will be applicable to companies which employ above 50 persons in America and 50 percent of them are H1B, L1A or L1B non immigrant status visa holders. The USCIS said that this increased visa fees is in addition to the fees of general premium, processing fee, fraud prevention and detection fee and American competitiveness and work force improvement fees. This increase in visa fee will be effective till September 30, 2025 and this act came into force with President Obama’s signature on December 18. The visa petitions which do not furnish the information according to the new act will be rejected after February 11.
