The bad blood between India and US after Devyani Khobragade issue seems to spill into other areas. The US has been complaining that India is discriminating against it’s products in the Solar power solutions area. The Indian government though has no restriction on using US solar panels or any other products, but encourages usage of Indian manufactured machinery and offers subsidy on such usage. The practice has been implemented under the Solar power Policy from 2010.
India too complained US of giving similar incentives to their manufacturers for using local labour and products in the renewable energy sector. The US Chamber of Commerce has already asked its government to put pressure on India over alleged Intellectual Property Right allegation particularly in the area of generic drug manufacturing.
