Union Minister of State for Statistics & Programme Implementation V K Singh has said that theme of social development chosen for Statistics Day is relevant. It is also related to themes of development set by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Singh. Speaking at the 9th National Statistics Day in New Delhi today, he told statisticians to use technology to analyze data in specific areas for development of the society. Government needs focused interventions in education, health, sanitation etc. He said the proposed ‘Time Use’ survey of people should contribute for taking decisions in improving the productivity of the nation. Chairman, National Statistical Commission, Pronab Sen said that data collection and analysis must address specific problems in identified and focused areas.
Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, T.C. A. Anant said it is time to review the social development and statistical tools should be improved to measure social development parameters.
