Sikkim’s former governor and senior leader of BJP V. Rama Rao (80) breathed his last on Sunday. His family members admitted him into the Apollo hospital in Jubilee hills as his health condition worsened. He was one of the few Telugu persons who was governor to Sikkim. He
was governor of that state for three years from 2002 to 2005. He was born into a Brahmin family on December 12, 1935 in Machilipatnam, Krishna district. He worked in the
AP High Court as lawyer. He won the MLC seat from Graduates constituency four times in a row in 1966, 1972, 1978 and 1984. He was also the opposition leader in the AP State Legislative Council. The Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya and the state BJP president Kishan Reddy condoled his death.
